The Black Horse Pub, Darwen The Black Horse pub, in my home town of Darwen, Lancashire, is one of the finest pubs in the County. The pub has never lost its identity as a traditional local pub, and Mick and Andy, who have been the publicans for the last few years, have made it into a wonderfully friendly and welcoming pub. It still has a very English identity, has not ever been transformed into an awful `theme pub`, and you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. It always has an array of real ales on sale, indeed Andy now has his own micro-brewery, and every last weekend of the month they have a mini beer festival where they have 50+ real ales on, and use a tent in the beer garden to host some of the beers. The food is always excellent and very well priced, and it has 3 TVs dotted around so you dont have to miss any of the sport while you are out! The pub is on Redearth Rd, just further up from Sainsburys, and is only 5 minutes walk from the town centre. I thoroughly recommend the Black Horse.
