Slugs And Your Garden.
Slugs can be a big problem in your garden, eating your vegetables at an alarming rate. You can keep them at bay by spraying pesticides, but at what cost both ecologically and to yourself? I always feel the taste is impaired when you spray pesticides on your produce also. There are other methods to keep slugs at bay. Slugs, in common with many of us human beings, love beer! So the trick is to leave a small container in your garden that contains beer in it, just enough so that the slugs will drown in it. They love the beer so much they seem impervious to the fact that they are going to drown themselves in the stuff. You can often find up to a dozen in there at a time if your garden is particularly prone to getting slugs. Another good method is to plant a frog or toad in your garden. Frogs, or toads, seem to regard slugs as a delicacy and will soon make your garden a slug free zone. They also have the added advantage of eating many of the flies and insects that can also damage your produce. I am sure there are other ways to rid your garden of slugs, but these are my ecologically sound tips for the task. Author, Des Ingham, http://www.teamgdipro.com/finalsuccess. |
